Eurypterid The gruesome Predator


Eurypterids also known as the sea scorpions, is one of the largest and most gruesome predators exist during the Palaeozoic Era. The oldest fossil ever been found is in the Cambrian period. This suggests that they exist since Cambrian period until they went into extinction during the Permian period. Which is the dawn of the Palaeozoic Era.
 It is armed with a two large claws cover with spines in the front close to their mouth. It is call chelicerae and it is used for grab hold of prey as well as making sure that the prey did not get a way and also to harm or hurt the prey before the sea scorpions consumes it. Besides that, Eurypterids also armed with a sting located at is tail. It is used to inject venom to its prey like a scorpion. As we can see on its name, the sea scorpions are actually a Chelicerates. This means that it is related to both scorpions and others arachnids.
It is also have a hard exoskeleton protecting from injury. Because of the characteristics, this gruesome animal has become one of the most successful predators during the Paleozoic Era.
