Sanctacaris, a
successful predator at the Cambrian period
Sanctacaris can grow up to 9cm
which is around three in half inches long. It had become one of the most successful
predators at the Cambrian period. Because of those many pairs of appendages
that are located near its mouth, it is suggested that the Sanctacaris used it
to break the hard exoskeleton of its prey. Such as Naraoia for instance. And
feed on its helpless prey. Besides, with the hard exoskeleton as its armour, it
will not be easy for prey to injure this majestic predator. Sanctacaris is probably
one of the Chelicerate. This means, it’s probably related to spiders and
scorpions. With its many pairs of appendages as a weapon and a hard exoskeleton
as armour, this is what makes the Sanctacaris one of the most successful predators
at the Cambrian period.
